Dear Greeley Community,
I hope this email finds your family well and enjoying summer break. As Superintendent Kocanda shared with you on Friday, July 28, I will be serving as Interim Principal of Greeley School for the 2017-2018 school year. I wanted to take a brief moment and share my excitement for this upcoming year. Greeley has an historic and immensely positive reputation within our District, and I am humbled by the opportunity to partner with you and our staff to support the growth and development of your child. My role as Assistant Principal at The Skokie School for the past two years, along with five years of teaching at Carleton Washburne School, has instilled within me a profound respect for our Shared Vision. The students, staff, and community within this District are unlike any other, and I am honored to serve as your Interim Principal during the 2017-2018 school year.
Prior to my time in Winnetka, I attended Northern Illinois University for a BA in History and Aurora University for an MA in Educational Leadership. I spent four years teaching language arts, computer science, and social studies at the middle school level in St. Charles, Illinois before coming to Carleton Washburne School as a history teacher and advisor. In that role, I strove to provide multi-disciplinary learning experiences based on appropriate topics, rigor, and relevancy. The opportunities I have had as Assistant Principal at Skokie School included working closely with our elementary staff and administrators. I learned quickly that I thoroughly enjoyed the elementary environment and supporting the needs of this age group. I am fortunate to have established relationships with many Greeley teachers through my participation in various district-level initiatives such as reading/writing workshop training, Response to Intervention (RtI) and Language Arts committees, planning social-emotional learning curriculum/events, and work with the Winnetka Education Association.
Ensuring a smooth transition of the principalship is of great importance for parents, students, and staff. Establishing a strong relationship with your family and getting to know your children is one of my top priorities. Please contact me with any questions or concerns, or even to share a bit about your family. I look forward to partnering with you in continuing Greeley’s long history of providing a rigorous and robust progressive educational experience.
Interim Principal, Greeley School
