Launching a New Strategic Plan for The Winnetka Public Schools
The Board approved the Mission, Vision, Portrait of a Graduate, & Priority Areas for Strategic Plan 2021- 2025 at its meeting on June 22, 2021. In the fall, District administration will present draft objectives and strategies to the Board for approval and then begin the implementation of the 2021-2025 Strategic Plan.
How can community members get involved in the Strategic Planning process?

Strategic Planning Timeline
December 2019: The School Board approved the Battelle for Kids (BFK) Strategic Planning proposal to work with the District in the creation of a Portrait of a Graduate and providing Strategic Planning Support Services.
January 2020: An executive planning session was held to initiate the process, starting with Phase 1 work to develop a Portrait of a Graduate.
March 2020: A Portrait Design Team including staff, community members, parents, students, administrators and School Board met to launch the Portrait of a Graduate process.
June 2020: The School Board postponed the collaborative process until January 2021 due to a number of factors associated with COVID-19. As an interim step, the core group of Portrait of a Graduate Design team members periodically met throughout the fall.
October 2020: The District hosted a virtual session with 30+ core team members to recalibrate the team, and reassess how the pandemic may have impacted opinions on Portrait of a Graduate characteristics.
December 7, 2020: The District hosted a virtual session with core team members to recalibrate the team on fall feedback, complete a survey, and determine edits that should be made to the original Portrait of a Graduate draft.
January 2021: Strategic Planning officially resumed, with some members of the Portrait of a Graduate Team transitioning to the Strategic Design Team. The focus of the January meeting was to gather insights on graphic design elements and competency language.
February 2021-May 2021: The Strategic Design Team will gain perception data to conduct a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis, establish priority areas and the framework for the strategic plan and its alignment with the District's Vision, Mission and Values. The Community will be invited to participate in a survey to respond to priorities and provide input on the competencies established for our Portrait of a Graduate.
