Productive and Unproductive Beliefs about Math

A vast amount of research has been conducted over the past 25 years that has shed new light on the most effective ways to teach mathematics. We use this research to inform the teaching and learning of mathematics in District 36. For this reason, the math instruction occurring in today's classrooms looks quite different from what it looked like in years past.

Principles to Action: Ensuring Mathematical Success for All is a book written by a task force of national math education leaders working through the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. In this text, the authors define the principles and actions that are essential to strengthen mathematics teaching and learning for all students.
