Reading Comprehension Skills Progression

Document Details

The progressions for reading comprehension skills were developed from the Reading Overviews for Literary Reading, Informational Reading, and Building an Independent Reading Life.  The Reading Overviews detail the Essential Questions, Understandings, Knows, and Dos (KUDS).  Each document below mirrors the comprehension reading skills from the matching overview in the “Do” section. Although comprehension skills are just one portion of what students are expected to do within reading skills, the committee and classroom teachers desired a clear articulation of these comprehension skills.  A complimentary teacher resource then provides instructional strategies that support each specific skill.
