District 36 3-Year Capital Plan
District 36 completed an Educational Master Facility Plan (EMFP) in 2017-2018. The Board adopted the EMFP in October 2018. In order to address the most critical of the items identified in the EMFP the Board has crafted a 3-Year Capital Plan in order to move forward with a portion of the EMFP. The Board of Education agreed to fund these projects utilizing fund balance. These projects will be completed the summers between 2021-2023. These projects total $14.1 million, and are part of approximately $65 million in total projects that have been deemed as baseline needs for our schools. These items include:
- Health/Life Safety projects as identified by our architect during the 10-year Health/Life Safety survey in 2015. In addition, the board has prioritized:
- Updates to HVAC and mechanical systems to address aging equipment and improve air quality in our schools
- Electrical improvements
- Plumbing and piping replacement to address lead in the water and other issues related to 80-100 year old piping
- Accessibility upgrades in line with ADA
- Safety and Security enhancements
- Fire Protection updates
Below you will find a breakdown of the projects that will be addressed, as well as the estimated costs associated with these projects. The District has limited fund balances to address these projects, andt the Board of Education will be working over the next several months to determine how to address future funding needs for these projects.
