2020-2021 School Year
-
June 3, 2021
Dear Staff and Families,
As we conclude our school year tomorrow, I am reflecting back on how we began. I wrote the following on August 14, 2020:
As we near our start of the school year, we grow more excited to welcome our students and staff back to campus for the first time in nearly six months! We continue to be encouraged by the ingenuity, creativity, and resolve we share as we work to surmount a challenging situation together. While there are a variety of opinions and ideas on how to best meet our challenges, our school community has always demonstrated resilience. I truly believe there will be brighter days ahead. In the meantime, we know this school year will be very different for all of us.
Reading what was initially shared in August, it goes without saying that we accomplished a tremendous amount together over the course of this school year. I am proud of the collective resilience we demonstrated for our students. Our families and staff demonstrated grace under pressure and made personal sacrifices for the well-being of the school community. I am particularly proud of our 2021 graduates for their positivity this year. We look forward to celebrating these students tonight.
As initially shared in August, it remains true that there are brighter days ahead. We can begin this summer with more certainty than we did in 2020. As previously mentioned, I am looking forward to sharing more logistical details about what to expect in 2021-2022 the week of July 19. Your building principals will also be providing school-specific information with you in August, such as class placement. If there are any other pressing updates that pertain to our upcoming school year, you can expect communication from the District. In the meantime, I hope you take time to rejuvenate and rest this summer. Enjoy your last school day!
Sincerely,
Dr. Trisha Kocanda

Announcement Regarding HB2789
On May 14, 2021, the School Board sent a letter regarding HB2789. We wanted to share that the legislators heard a great deal of concerns regarding this bill, therefore, it was not called for vote this legislative session.
