The Skokie School

National Blue Ribbon Award
U.S. Department of Education National Blue Ribbon School 2013We are proud to announce that the U. S. Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, has recognized The Skokie School as a National Blue Ribbon School for 2013. “The National Blue Ribbon Schools Program award recognizes public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students either achieve very high learning standards or are making notable improvements toward those standards. Since 1982, the U. S. Department of Education has sought out and celebrated great American schools. The National Blue Ribbon School award affirms the hard work of students, educators, families, and communities in outstanding schools.”

This year, a total of 286 schools were honored in the United States with this prestigious award. Skokie is one of twenty-one schools in Illinois receiving this award. Considering there are nearly 6,000 schools in Illinois, we are extremely humbled by this accomplishment. We share this award with all of our students and parents. Without your support and partnership, we would not be the school we are today! The staff has nominated fifth grade teacher, Mr. Anthony Rowe, to join Principal Jordan to receive this award in Washington, D.C. this November. We look forward to celebrating with our students and all of the staff this December!

The list of all 2013 National Blue Ribbon Schools is also available on the U. S. Department of Education’s website.
