School Nurse and Medication
Nurses: Ms. Ivers and Ms. Seigel
Nurse -- Greeley's school nurse is at
Greeley each day from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Please feel free to call
her with any concerns at 446-2638. Also, please call the nurses'
office at any time you child has a contagious disease, whether it
occurs on the weekend, during vacation or on a school day. Contagious
diseases to be reported include Strep Throat, Scarlet Fever, Chicken
Pox or other serious contagious illnesses.
Medication in School -- It may
occasionally be necessary for your child to receive medicine while
attending school. Although this is not encouraged, the following
procedure has been adopted in order for the schools to comply with
your requests and those of your physician. The school must have both
a written order from your physician stating dose, time, interval,
side effects and duration of treatment (forms are available in the
nurses' office and most physicians' offices); and a signed permission
form from the parent or guardian (forms are available in the nurses'
office). Medication must be brought to school in the original
container--both prescription and non-prescription -- never in a
baggie or envelope, and all medication is to be administered by the
school nurse or the parent if the nurse is not available. Children
must never carry or take medication on their own. If you have any
questions about these procedures, please contact the school
nurse.
