Have you always wanted to play the piano? If so, this is the class for you! Discover the basics of piano skills using method books that are appropriate for your level. Learn the fundamentals of music theory, and explore the art of composing through GarageBand. No previous piano or composition skills are necessary--beginners are more than welcome! Using iMovie and Flash software, you will create a variety of two-dimensional animations while using GarageBand to compose your own original music. You will integrate technology, art, and composition to create a DVD to share with your family and friends. Students should have piano lessons and/or have taken Intro to Piano and Composition prior to taking this class. This is a FULL YEAR COMMITMENT that meets Tuesday mornings from 7:30-8:15 am. In addition, each student will meet on a rotating schedule once a week during the school day for sectional rehearsals. Attendance at both rehearsals and sectionals is required. This ensemble is open to all eighth graders and seventh graders. Look for a sign up outside of the music room in September. Performances, festivals, and contests will occur throughout the year. |
