Yearbook


This class requires students to make a two-trimester commitment.

Help produce the Washburne yearkbook! Take pictures, design layouts, create collages, and make decisions regarding what will be included in the yearbook. Learn about photo composition, layout design, and journalism basics. This is a popular class and enrollment is limited. Selection of students is determined by a random lottery of those who have elected to take the course. If you are selected to take this class and also take a foreign language, you will be exempt from the art requirement.


Memory Book


Capture the spriit of your eigth grade class!
Prepare a book of Washburne remembrances for you and your friends! Write interviews and take photographs for student profile pages and create fun features for a special memento to celebrate your eighth grade year.


Newspaper


Write and report for the official school newspaper. Learn the fundamentals of journalism, reporting and writing, digital photography, and graphic design. Write articles for each issue, conduct interviews and surveys, write reviews, draw cartoons and much more.


Creative Writing


Calling all authors! Do you like to write? Would you like to publish your writing? In this class you will write about topics that matter to you. Experiment with a variety of writing genres, forms and writing techniques. Finish pieces for contests, student publications, and publication in our own school literary magazine, The Washburne Voice.
