First grade is a time of change, physically, emotionally and academically. First grade is also a time of learning many new concepts and skills. Reading and writing are specifically taught and integrated throughout the units of study. Time, money, classroom jobs, and number sense are some of the math objectives covered throughout the school year. As the first grade student grows physically, a more confident and independent learner emerges. Students learn how to listen to each other, empathize, problem solve, and build friendships through morning classroom meetings. Through these meetings, a safe and nurturing classroom environment is cultivated, which allows each child to become the best Greeley student he or she can be.
Studies Include: The Farm, The Arctic, Chicks, The Nutcracker, and Beatrix Potter. |
